This policy explains what personal information The Shrimp Hub collects when you visit shrimphub.co.uk or buy from us, why we collect it, and your rights over it.
Who we are
The Shrimp Hub is run by Ross Wilson, 22 Field Gate View, Wakefield, WF2 7FE. We are the data controller for the personal information described here. You can contact us about anything in this policy at shrimphubuk@gmail.com or on 07771 111424.
What we collect
- Order details: your name, delivery address, email address, phone number and what you bought.
- Payment details: card payments are handled by our payment provider. We never see or store your full card number.
- Messages: anything you send us by email, WhatsApp, our contact form or our restock alerts form.
- Reviews: your name and review if you choose to leave one.
- Website use: information such as pages visited, device and browser type, and approximate location, collected through cookies (see below).
How we use it and our legal basis
- To process and deliver your order, including sharing your name and address with Royal Mail. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- To answer your questions and handle DOA claims or refunds. Legal basis: contract and legitimate interests.
- To send restock alerts and occasional news, only if you have signed up. You can unsubscribe at any time. Legal basis: consent.
- To ask for a review after you have received your order. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- To keep financial records as required by HMRC. Legal basis: legal obligation.
- To understand how our website is used and measure our advertising. Legal basis: consent, through our cookie settings.
Who we share it with
We only share your information where it is needed to run the shop:
- Royal Mail, to deliver your order.
- Our e-commerce and payment providers, to take orders and payments.
- Our website host, which stores the website and its data.
- Google, for website analytics and advertising measurement, where you have allowed cookies.
We never sell your personal information. Some of these providers may store data outside the UK; where they do, they use safeguards approved under UK data protection law.
Cookies
Our website uses essential cookies so the basket and checkout work. With your permission, we also use Google Analytics and Google Ads cookies to understand how visitors use the site and whether our adverts work. You can change your browser settings to block or delete cookies at any time.
How long we keep it
- Order and financial records: six years, to meet tax rules.
- Messages and enquiries: up to two years after our last contact.
- Mailing list details: until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, to ask for it to be moved to another provider, and to withdraw consent at any time. To use any of these rights, email us at shrimphubuk@gmail.com. We will reply within one month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
